Meet the Horses

Because they sure can't wait to meet YOU!!

Meet Magi

Magi is a 21-year-old Bay Quarter Horse Mare. It is obvious when you meet her that previous owners invested time and money into her training and care. Even little signs, such as how willing and quick she is to dip her nose into her halter, or how willing and responsive she is when being led on a rope by even the youngest of visitors, are indications of her training and care. An injury to her knee, however, rendered sweet Magi unrideable.

A wonderful horse rescue called Easy R Equine Rescue helped to rehabilitate and rehome her. That's where we come in! Even in a herd of only two horses, there will almost always be a leader. Magi "tells" Peanut when it's time to eat or rest, and even which of them gets the spot closest to the gate to welcome their Humans home.

With her excellent training and compliant demeanor, she and Peanut roam the grounds together -- and mostly tolerate the dogs. :)

Meet Peanut

Ever the curious girl, Peanut (left) is a 22-year-old Appaloosa Mare. She was the first equine co-manager of The Mane Thing, LLC's Operations Team. ;) Peanut had a bit of a rough time in her previous life. She was used as a rental horse, but unfortunately the horses' owner was not very responsible. At the time when she was rescued, she was about 300 pounds under-weight. Thanks to the ASPCA, Peanut was seized from the owner and slowly but surely loved and rehabilitated.

She has since gained a whopping 350 pounds, and her frolicky trots around the property are a (hilarious) pleasure to watch.

Peanut absolutely loves children and youth. Peanut is a favorite for our visitors who have experienced similar situations. Come have a chat with her. She loves to listen, and she helps us to understand and normalize how we might respond similar uncertainty in our own lives.
